RECORD PERFORMANCE BY GILL
County team regular, Gill Westgate, made a big hole in her handicap last week when she equalled the Beds & County course record. Gill shot a 69, and rumour has it there were two sixes on the card! [Editor's note - by my calculations that's a whole aviary of birdies!] Well playedGill.

AUTUMN SILVER DIVISION MEETING RESULTS
Fine performances from Laura Collin and Shelagh Cormack saw them scoop the gross and net prizes respectively.

COUNTY MIXED AT MILLBROOK:
Claire Arbuckle and partner Duncan Steele overcame tough conditions at Milbrook and beat a very tired field to win the County Mixed Foursomes.

BEDFORDSHIRE DUO DO THE BIZ AT THE BRITISH:
The Ladies British Open Amateur Strokeplay championship attracts some of the best amateur talent in Europe, including Laura Collin and Holly Aitchison. Our superstars were in a 115 strong field that boasted 34 plus handicappers. Competitors from 16 different countries as far a field as Argentina, New Zealand and Russia took part in the competition over 4 days, with top 40 and ties only making the cut for the final 2 days. INTER-COUNTY SHIELD WIN FOR JUNIORS:
Is there no stopping our Juniors? Unbeaten so far this season, several members of the squad took part in the Intercounty shield, held at the Bedfordshire Golf Club. Click here to see just how well they did.

2nd TEAM VICTORY OVER NORFOLK:
The 2nd team finale at John O'Gaunt saw Bedfordshire take on Norfolk and Cambs & Hunts take on Suffolk. Several new talents were seen in the Bedfordshire yellow, and a great result was achieved.  Click here for results

MORE SUCCESS AT NATIONAL LEVEL:
Bedfordshire Junior County 1st team regulars Katie Burman and Megan Burdsey took part in the English U15 Championships at Kidderminster Golf Club from 1st to 4th August.  The championship consists of three 18-hole stroke play qualifying rounds played on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, then the leading 36 players plus ties qualified for the 18-hole stroke play final played on Friday. Katie was running 2nd after qualifying and Megan also made it to the final day. Katie kept her form on the final day and retained her second spot, playing 28 over par for 4 rounds of golf. Well done! JUNIORS CONTINUE THEIR WINNING FORM:
The County Junior 1st Team continued their winning form with an impressive 5-1 victory over Cambs & Hunts. Click here for details

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS:
As always, the Junior Championship provided a treat for the spectators. The John O'Gaunt course was playing very tough, with long rough and some very tricky pin positions. SO NEAR AND YET SO FAR....
The Bedfordshire team performed extremely well and fought so bravely at County Week, but we missed out by just half a point. Click here for day by day results. Our congratulations go to Rose Hall, Ladies Captain of hosts Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands, and her huge team of helpers for such a well organised event. The flowers were classic :^)

Sharon Allen, queen of the Dukes
Sharon Allen- a regular BLCGA 2nd Team Player has improved her handicap from 9 to 7 in the last 2 months and on 12th July won the BMW Regional Qualifying Ladies Competition At Woburn with 38 points on the Dukes and will go forward to the next  round at Turnberry   14 - 16 September.
Good luck Sharon and we hope you win at Turnberry and make the Final at Fancourt  South Africa  4 - 9 December. [Editor's Note: I checked my diary and apparently I am available for the final should you need a caddy]

Juniors win first match of the season:
Drought! What drought? The juniors certainly didn't notice any drought as they battled their way through extremely wet and windy conditions to post a 4-2 win against Norfolk. Congratulations to all the team, and also to reserve Georgia Tester who managed a win on her county debut.

Carol beats the weather and the opposition:
In terrible weather that reduced the day to an 18 hole event, Carol Gould of Beds & County battled through to win the 2nd Division Spring meeting and qualify for the County Cup.
