I am delighted that we now have our own website I am sure it will help us to keep our membership up to date with events.   It is only in its initial stages but I know it will be a very useful communication tool and we are anxious to make our association more accessible to all ourmembers.

CAPTAINS FUNd DAY– SOUTH BEDS GOLF CLUB 21^STAUGUST 2003

My thanks to South Beds Golf Club for providing the venue for my fund raising day.   38 teams from throughout the county played on the day and many clubs and individuals provided raffle prizes which was very much appreciated and helped swell the final amount.

The funds raised will help with the cost of coaching programmes for the county teams and junior girls and the total will be announced at our AGM at John O Gaunt Golf Club on Monday 3^rd November.

Our major sponsor for 2003, Mr. Brian Handscombe of Handscombe Financial Planning Ltd, presented the prizes to the winners of the afternoon competition.   We are very grateful the substantial support given to the BLCGA from Handscombe Financial Planning Ltd.

RESULTS

COUNTY MIXED COMPETITION – DUNSTABLE DOWNS  GOLF CLUB – 7^TH SEPTEMBER 2003.

The 36 hole medal mixed foursomes competition was held on a fine sunny day at Dunstable , despite dire weather warnings which were wayoff the mark.

This competition has been won for the past two years by Rina Zanna and Dean Stockwell and this year they again featured in the sudden death playoff against Bridie Quinn and son Noel Quinn. 

Both pairs had a gross score of 151 and on the 2^nd playoff hole Bridie and Noel won the Bedfordshire County Mixed Championship.

This competition attracted a very good field which included a number our junior girls and it is very encouraging to see their progress.

INAUGURAL HEALTH PERCEPTION LADIE'S CHAMPIONSHIP OF GREAT BRITAIN & IRELAND

Gill Westgate (Bedford&County) tied fifth in the Grand Final, played on Wentworth's East Course 

HarrietCarr  ( The Bedfordshire) is going to SunCity.  

Harriet, B.L.C.G.A. County Champion and Junior Champion 2003, is 1 of the  21 Finalists - 12 Boys and 9 Girls who will battle it out over the 3-day Final for the prestigious titles of" Boys' or  Girls' Daily Telegraph Junior Golf Champion 2003" .She will travel to the  Resort of Sun City, South Africa which hosts the2003 final for the 2nd Year.
