MORE SUCCESS AT NATIONAL LEVEL:
Bedfordshire Junior County 1st team regulars Katie Burman and Megan Burdsey took
part in the English U15 Championships at Kidderminster Golf Club from 1st to 4th
August. The championship consists of three 18-hole stroke play qualifying
rounds played on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, then the leading 36 players plus
ties qualified for the 18-hole stroke play final played on Friday. Katie was
running 2nd after qualifying and Megan also made it to the final day. Katie kept
her form on the final day and retained her second spot, playing 28 over par for
4 rounds of golf. Well done!

JUNIORS CONTINUE THEIR WINNING FORM:
The County Junior 1st Team continued their winning form with an impressive 5-1
victory over Cambs & Hunts at the
Cromwell course on Sunday 16th July, one of the hottest days of the
year. A complete contrast to the very wet match against Norfolk. The team was
Heather Mutton (Capt) LB, Katie Burman JOG, Megan Birdsey Grif, Lizi Sweetnam
LB, Rebecca Samuels LB and Natalie Coles LB. Molly Thorne (Beds) played as
reserve her first time in the 1st team. The result was 4 matches won
and 2 halved 5/1 No matches lost. Molly finished after 15 holes 1 down but
enjoyed the experience. Keep it up girls!
Many thanks to all the ladies, County President, County Vice President, Ladies 2nd
team captain for all their support. The girls really appreciate lots of yellow
around the course.
JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS:
As
always, the Junior Championship provided a treat for the spectators. The John
O'Gaunt course was playing very tough, with long rough and some very tricky pin
positions. Congratulations to Lizi Sweetnam of Leighton Buzzard, who managed to
tame the course and win the championship.

JUNIORS WIN FIRST MATCH
OF THE SEASON:
Drought! What drought? The juniors certainly didn't notice any drought as
they battled their way through extremely wet and windy conditions to post a 4-2
win against Norfolk. Congratulations to all the team, and also to reserve
Georgia Tester who managed a win on her county debut.
JUNIOR ORGANISER:
In 2005, Paula Collin
of John O'Gaunt took on the role of County Junior Organiser. Paula's role is to
look after and encourage the development of all girls aged under 21 in the
county of Bedfordshire, whether you are a complete beginner or a budding star.
Paula arranges County Competitions, group coaching sessions and activities and
also looks after the county team. There are events for girls of all ages and
