| B.L.C.G.A. JUNIOR SECTION 2008 RESULTS - PAST CAPTAINS' SALVER |
The County Schools Handicap Team Championship was held at the Bedfordshire on Monday 14th April in very cold wintry conditions. There were 48 boys and girls taking part in the main event which was an 18 hole stableford. The response to the event was so large that a further 18 players took part in an 18 hole par 3 high handicap competition with Vanessa Jay (Cedars Upper) coming in 3rd with 47 points.
The winning school team came from Sharnbrook Upper School with 70 points (2 best scores to count) - Georgia Testa - 33 points, Fiona Cooper - 36 points and Sam Brown - 34 points. The team now goes forward to represent Bedfordshire in the ESGA National Team Championship at Penn Golf Club in Wolverhampton in July.
Fiona Cooper won the County High Handicap Girls Champion prize with 36 points with Georgia Testa in second place with 33 points and Molly Thorne (Margaret Beaufort) third with 31 points. Fiona and Molly, together with Kimberley Jones from Redbourne Upper, have been selected for the girls team to take part in the George McPartlin Trophy which will take place in Hertfordshire. The best overall team score nationwide will see that team become national champions - Bedfordshire girls are the current holders.
